If you haven’t already seen this:

1. What is the matter with you?

2. Watch it by chicking here!

Yes, I know I’m way behind the curve on this one. Try to be patient. I have a big-kid job that keeps me pretty busy. So until, I someone PAYS me to do this kind of thing… I’m going to be behind from time to time.

For those of you who follow my blog, you know that I have been an active Avatar hater since I saw the 25 minutes of exclusive footage at Comic Con. I can now proudly say, that I have been converted to the “dark side.”

This new trailer has something to offer – PLOT! Honestly, this trailer makes it look like there is something actually going on other than millions of dollars spent on special effects. I’m surprised and not all at the same time.

For the most part “awesome” special effects make me yawn unless you have an amazing story as support. I will always firmly believe that the special effects aspect of a film should be supplementry material and not yourmain crutch. With that being said, it would appear that this movie has much more potential than I previously thought.

Please, I have no desire to hear the phrase, “I told you so,” regardless if you think I need to hear it or not. I was proven wrong (for the time being) and find myself pleasantly surprised in the process.

In theaters worldwide December 18th

Trailer Watch: Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

YES! Watch the trailer here

Previously I gave you guys a look at the awesome poster… now I have even more for you kittens. THE TRAILER. The link is above, in case you missed it.

Everyone’s favorite shoot ‘em up cult classic is back. All of the original actors, with the addition of the lovely Julie Benz and Peter Fonda, are on board along with a bigger budget. That can only mean bigger and better fight sequences, explosions, and more bullets flying. Not that a smaller budget stopped them from blowing everything to smithereens the first time around.

The trailer doesn’t tell a whole lot, which I appreciate a lot. Part of the movie going experience is taking the journey. You can’t take that journey if they lay everything out for you.

I am very much looking forward to this one! Sadly, if you want to invite the MacManus brothers back into your life you will have to hunt down a theater that is showing it. Regardless of the amount of screens it will be playing on, I don’t think anything will be able to stop me.

In Limited Theaters on October 30th

Trailer Watch: Paranormal Activity

Check out the potentially creepy trailer here.

paranormal-activity-movie-poster12

This is something that would’ve completely fallen off my radar had it not been brought to my attention from my movie loving roommate. He encouraged me to take a look at this trailer. According to him, this looks crazy scary.

His other commentary is the way that the trailer was constructed might be less effective in ACTUALLY freaking you out. I have to agree with him.

Paranormal Activity comes to us in the tradition of such films as The Blair Witch Project, Quarantine, and Cloverfield. Meaning, it’s made to look real without actually being real. The trailer didn’t really do it for me. My initial reaction doesn’t make me want to rush to the theaters. More over, it looks kind of cheesy.

It was how I felt about the trailer AFTER that will make me reach for those dollars in my purse in exchange for a ticket.

I can watch just about any horror movie without reacting or freaking out. The issue I have is after I go home I get super paranoid. I see every dark corner as a potential death trap. I lock doors, walk backwards through halls, and turn on every single light available.

This film, although completely fake, will most likely strike an emotion cord. For those of you who saw Cloverfield, you know what I am talking about. I can only assume that the character investment in Paranormal Activity will be just as deep and when all is said and done, the audience will be left out of breathe.

Trailer Watch: Whip It

Check out the trailer for Whip It here.

whip-it-poster

Ellen Page is back. Let’s face it, this girl belongs in Indy films.

This looks pretty simple and neat all at the same time. You’ll get a heartwarming tale of a girl who finds her passion and discovers herself in the process. The cast is great: Ellen Page, Kristin Wiig, Drew Barrymore, Juliette Lewis, Marcia Gay Harden, and Zoe Bell. I have to say that out of this whole list of people, Ellen Page, Kristin Wiig, and Zoe Bell excite me the most. For those non-geeks out there, look up Zoe Bell and become a fan… ASAP.

This film will be the directorial debut for Drew Barrymore. She’s been a producing heavyweight for sometime and officially taking the dive into directing, which seems like the next logical choice. So far, it looks like Drew has made some pretty good choices thus far and Whip It should be a film worth seeing.

Trailer Watch: Fantastic Mr. Fox

In the name of everything that is sacred watch this trailer here!

Once again my love for Wes Anderson has been renewed!

When you start to watch this trailer, it’s difficult to not have a raised eyebrow and a voice in your head asking, “What in holy hell is happening?”

The animation style is disjointed stop animation. Even gems like Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, and Coraline looked pretty fluid despite the style. However, it doesn’t look disjointed because they don’t know how to do it right, it looks this way on purpose and it apart of the style of the film. I think it’s kind of brilliant!

The Royal Tenenbaums is one of my favorite movies of all time and since then Wes Anderson has failed to recapture my heart. However, Fantastic Mr. Fox has grabbed my attention in a very serious way.

This film looks absolutely endearing and hilarious. While at first it’s extremely off putting I think this is mere brilliance at work! I’m stoked!

Trailer Watch: Alice in Wonderland

Watch the trailer for Alice in Wonderland here.

 alice_in_wonderland_alice_poster2

Long awaited and long anticipated. This poster is so pretty I had to make it as big as possible.

One of the most surreal stories comes to life from the visionary mind of Tim Burton. When Tim Burton does a movie he likes to bring his friends along, namely Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. Well, Tim and Helena are a little more than friends, but that is totally beside the point.

I watched it and got the chills. Granted, the footage isn’t nearly as cool as the exclusive Comic Con footage, but it’ll have to do!

Like all Tim Burton movies this one looks PRETTY! It’s difficult to watch this without getting a little excited. Granted the release date doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence from the studios, but gems can come out of the lump of coal that is late winter.

Keep your fingers crossed for this one kittens. It has a lot of potential to be something absolutely magnificent.

In theaters March 5th.

Trailer Watch: Zombieland

Check out the trailer for Zombieland here

zombieland-poster-final

Welcome to a world where Zombies are the majority and humans are the minority! It sounds scary, but in this world, just about every surviving human knows how to effectively kill zombies. There is even a contest known as “Zombie Kill of the Week.” Once again the popular horror conventions get a delicious and comedic twist in Zombieland

Oscar nominated actors, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin join the rising teen stars Jesse Eisenberg (Adevntureland) and Emma Stone (Superbad).

Out of all of the movies on the horizon, this one makes me smile the most. I cannot wait to see this movie. Zombies, comedy, action, and violence, what more could you possibly wish for in a movie going experience?

In theaters October 9th.

Trailer Watch: Big Fan

Watch the trailer for Big Fan here

If you are one of the many people (like me) who have a massive crush on Patton Oswald, try to control yourself while you are watching this trailer. I think that Paaton Oswald is amazing on all accounts. He’s a gifted comedian and all around great actor. Nothing makes to smile more than watching comedians flex their dramatic acting muscles.

Big Fan tells the story of Paul Aufiero (Oswald), a big New York Giants fan. His entire world is turned upside down when he gets beaten up by his favorite player.

Big Fan looks like it could give Patton Oswald the opportunity of a lifetime. This movie looks incredibly dramatic, intense, funny, and sad all at the same time. Frankly, I can’t wait for an opportunity to see this movie. Oswald can solidify his standing as a dramatic actor as well as open up all sorts of future opportunities if the film lives up to the trailer.

In Limited Release August 28th.

Trailer Watch: Avatar

You can FINALLY see the long anticipated trailer for Avatar here

avatar-teaser-poster-01

Like everyone else on the planet, I was looking forward to seeing the trailer. I was one of the lucky 6,500 people that got to see 25 minutes of footage at Comic Con this year. For those of you who already read my assessment of the film (if you haven’t you can check it out here) I was less than impressed with what I saw. I kept an open mind in, hoping that there was something deeper that I was maybe missing.

The trailer didn’t help at all. In fact it merely solidified my position on the matter.

James Cameron might be turning into George Lucas. Ever since Lucas figured out all the really cool things computers could do, he’s abandoned any attempt at effective story telling and over saturated his films with pretty special effects. The original Star Wars trilogy was so good because the special effects were there to supplement the story, not depend on it.

So what about Avatar? I feel that this movie is going to be completely void of a strong story and be a mere exercise in the awesome power of computers. I will say that the trailer did pack more of an emotional punch than the Comic Con footage did. Maybe there is still hope for it yet.

I would however like to quote some people that I know who watched the trailer and their reactions. Please bare in mind, these were their reactions before hearing anything that I had to say.

Reaction 1: “It’s like a cartoon that you would see on a Saturday morning show that someone spent $500 million dollars on.”

Reaction 2: “It bi-curious.”

Like my friends I am left confused and unimpressed, rather than excited. Sure you spent a ton of money and putting in all this DETAIL, what about you’re story?! HMMMM!?

Honestly, I am interested in your reactions. I know I will hear them for you!

Trailer Watch: Gentlemen Broncos

Watch the trailer here

gentleman-broncos-560x829

We all remember the wonder that was Napoleon Dynamite. It was unconventional, strange, and completely amusing. The writer and director of that little beauty is back with Gentlemen Broncos

I can’t say that the trailer is terribly impressive when it first starts. It actually feels like a rehash of Napoleon Dynamite. However, as I went deeper I found myself completely sucked in. There is something very charming and honest about Michael Angarano, who plays the role of Benjamin Pervis, an aspiring writer.

This movie will already have mass appeal. There is one major selling point that is going bring people flocking to the theaters: Jemaine Clement. Yes, THAT Jemiane Clement, one half of the comedic duo from Flight of the Concords. The voice he uses for this movie is one of the most amusing things I have ever heard. I think that he might be one his way to creating a classical and unforgettable film character that will be remembered for many years to come.

Usually I don’t get excited about seeing a movie after simply watching the trailer. I will admit that I am looking forward to this one!

In Limited Theaters October 30th.
