Check out the Green Lantern costume… Kinda.

Behold a first look at the Green Lantern costume! Sadly, this is the not exactly what we were looking for.

Ryan Reynolds

I know some of you are probably scratching you head over this one, please allow me to explain. Awhile back there were rumors circulating around the Green Lantern costume and what it would ultimately look like. The word on the street is that our dear Mr. Reynolds would not be placed into a tradition costume at all, but that the suit would be entirely computer generated complete with LED lighting. This effect was used to transform Bill Crudup into Dr. Manhattan for Watchmen.

Call me old fashioned, but I like the idea of the actor actually being in a physical costumed suit. While I may not be wild about the idea, I think that this could work very well for the film and the character.

What do you guys think?

    Ooooh, CGI. Just….wonderful.

Is this going to be 3D as well?

  2. Travis says:

Or do you just want to see Ryan Reynolds in green Spandex? :)

  3. The Maggie says:

YES I do! That’s exactly what I want to see. Costumes for superheroes look better than ever before. Don’t get me wrong, I like computer effects and all, but I really hate how movies are leaning on them so heavily these days.

I HATE THIS! Now wardrobe and costuming is turning to CGI?! Give me a fraking break! I hate CGI more than anyone in this world, but I do appreciate what it can do to take movie making to the next level. ONLY IF something can’t be done otherwise. Please, someone, bring back old movie making. The fact that I am in my early twenties and feel like I can say “old movie making” and back it up, really saddens me.

Keep in mind that we’re talking about Green Lantern though. His costume is created BY his ring, so it would only make sense to make his costume CGI, because its the most feasible (and believable) way to stay true to the comics, which is what fans deserve. If we were talking about like. Wolverine’s costume, that would be a different story, but this is one scenario in which this could actually work out…
