Note: This is the first edition of a new article segment I am dubbing “The Hit List.” This is will be a Top 10 List on various topics. ENJOY!
Summer movie season is getting to the kick off this Friday with the release of Iron Man 2. The summer movie season is the most exciting of the year. For avid movie goers like myself, it usually means a new movie (sometimes two) every week. Below are my picks for the Must See Movies of Summer 2010 (listed in order of release date):
Iron Man 2
In Theaters May 7th

RDJ is back in full force as Iron Man. The summer hit of 2008 is back for more in this highly anticipated sequel. Everyone is back, except for Terrance Howard who has been replaced by the amazing Don Cheadle. I don’t think I need to say much more. This one is expected to break box office records. I’ll have a review up first thing tomorrow!
MacGruber
In Theaters May 21st

The SNL movie is not quite as dead as we thought. Will Forte is taking his spoof of MacGyver to the big screen in MacGruber! They even got Ryan Philippe and Val Kilmer to join the cast. If that alone isn’t worth seeing it, I don’t know what is. The trailer looks great and the early reviews are putting it on the same mantel as Wayne’s World. Hopefully this will live up to the hype. I secretly wish that large portion of dialogue will only use the word “Pepsi.”
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
In Theaters May 28th

I smell another Pirates of the Caribbean-like franchise in the works! While this is based on a popular video game, this looks like the love-child of Pirates of the Caribbean (the 1st and ONLY good one) and the Mummy (also, the 1st and ONLY good one). Needless to say, I am sold and excited. I have this thing about sword fighting movies and Jerry Bruckheimer has a pretty good track record with franchise kick-offs, all signs point to “SWEEET!”
Get Him to the Greek
In Theaters June 4th

Forgetting Sarah Marshall‘s Albus Snow gets his very own movie in Get Him to the Greek. While movie was funny all on it’s own, Russell Brand’s incarnation of the fictional British rocker hit such a cord with audiences that he couldn’t be left alone. With Jonah Hill plays the driver charged with the task of getting Albus Snow to the theater on time and in one piece, this should be nothing sort of pure comedy genius.
Note: This poster makes me angry. Take a close look and you will notice that Russell Brand’s hands have been photo-shopped. It looks like his hand is ALL pinky fingers.
A-Team
In Theaters June 11th

There trailer for this movie is so action packed I can’t even tell you! For a film version of an old television show, this actually looks very promising. This may be some of the greatest casting I have seen in a very long time. Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson are always a treat, but what I am looking forward to most all of is watching Sharlto Copley (District 9) be awesome!
Toy Story 3
In Theaters June 18th

Would it really be summer without a Pixar flick? The original Pixar movie, the one that started the craze of the computer generated movie, is back for a third go around. Toy Story holds a very special place in the hearts of movie goers. I felt that the second one out did it’s predecessor in a lot of way. In general, Pixar knows how to put together a good story and wouldn’t dare to taint the image of these classic films, so a third wouldn’t even happen if they didn’t think they could do something real with it. It makes me all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it and the trailer makes me cry EVERY time.
Knight & Day
In Theaters June 25th

I will admit I am not the biggest fan of Tom Cruise, but why does this movie look amazing? Tom Cruise seems like he’s the kind of guy that takes himself a little too seriously, but to watch him play straight out comedy and make fun of himself should prove to be a great time. This is going to be Mission: Impossible comedic style with a dash of the Tom Cruise we got in Tropic Thunder.
Twilight Saga: Eclipse (honorable mention)
In Theater June 30th

Yes, I included Twilight. I know, I know. Let’s face it, these movies make stupid amounts of money and this installment will be no exception. The saga of the sparkling vampires continue, but this one is the most action packed. Yeah, vampires and werewolves fighting it out and Bella has to pick a team. LOVE IT!
The Last Airbender
In Theaters July 2nd

An American made live action movie based on an anime? I know, my head is spinning too! Although I am not a fan of the series (not that I dislike it, I’ve just never watched it), this looks pretty badass. The king of the twists, M. Night Shyamalan is doing something a little out of his normal box. Granted he wrote the screenplay along with directing, but the fact that this isn’t an original piece could be very promising. The trailers look AWESOME and mythology of the series and characters are very strong. Perhaps he can redeem himself after The Happening.
Inception
In Theaters July 16th

Fact: Christopher Nolan can do no wrong. If you were wondering what the hold up was on Batman 3, here is your answer. Director Christopher Nolan wanted to slip this pet project between making the best comic book movies ever. Inception will bend your mind, literally. It’s hard to make heads or tails of the trailer, but it draws you in. Leonardo DiCapiro, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page star with Batman alum Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy, and Ken Wantanbe.
The Other Guys
In Theaters August 6th

The buddy cop movie gets even better. By the looks of it, this is going to accomplish everything that Cop Out wish it had. Will Farrell is a vertan to making us all laugh and pairing him against Mark Wahlberg is the GREATEST idea. I think Mark Wahlberg is hilarious and the trailer is great. I’ll be there opening weekend, but I am a little afraid that all of the funny parts are in the trailer.
If you have been paying attention you would’ve notice that I mention 11 movies instead of the promised 10. The reality is, I couldn’t leave The Twilight Saga: Eclipse off the list, so it has a honorable mention.
What movies are you guys looking forward to this Summer?
Very cool! Will give it a read a bit later
Keep posting stuff like this i really like it
