While Russell Brand is going to attempt (yes, I do mean ATTEMPT) to fill the shoes of Dudley Moore in the re-make of Arthur, Helen Mirren is going to play HOBSON!

First of all, I would like to go on the record and formerly say that I do NOT support this remake at all. In my opinion, Arthur is a classic film and shouldn’t be remade in the first place.
Hobson was brought to life by John Gielgud in the 1981 original. It seems unimaginable that anyone else could play the iconic character. The news of Hobson being re-imagined as a woman isn’t really news. For awhile Meryl Streep was supposedly the front runner for the part. Mirren being signed onto the project is a bit of a shocker, but also incredibly genius.
For those fortunate enough to see the original, you know that Hobson is as sarcastic and properly rude as they come. Meryl Streep, as lovely as an actress as she may be, simply doesn’t have the edge that Mirren can bring to the role. Honestly, if any woman should play the part, it’s her.
Although I’m not supportive of the film, Mirren’s addition to the cast may make this something worth watching. It’s Helen Mirren for crying out loud!
Yes, I have changed my mind. I will see this film. No matter what, no one can replace one of the greatest duos in film history.

Now, do yourself a favor. Log into your Netflix account and add the original Arthur to the top of your Queue. You won’t be disappointed.
Hollywood is going cold turkey on pork. Tinseltown is even importing sleaze from the United Kingdom. Russell Brand does Brand Hollywood no favours. He is famous in the United Kingdom for his bizarre and anti social behaviour. He harrassed and abused an old gentleman. There was public outcry in the media at the time. He advocates promiscuity and perversion. What attracts women to this “Rudolf Valintino” of the silverscreen? Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Vaginale Thrush, Bartolin Cyst, Herpes Zoster, Scabies, or are they addicted to Penecillin. America, let this man entertain your children. He is a shameless swagger, with no substance to his charachter. Hollywood and his future leading ladies are welcome to him. We will know where they have been. Dudley Moore was an accomplished and sophisticated actor, respected and loved by audiences all over the world. The re make of “Arthur” is an insult to his memory. Warner Bros are truly in the gutters with this one.
