Heath’s last film to get a wide release, maybe?

Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger. I loved him from the beginning. Before he was even a blip on the Hollywood radar he starred along side Julia Stiles in the re-make of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew in a little film called 10 Things I Hate About You. I had a major crush on him from the beginning. Nothing was more satisfying than watching his fame rise. All good things must come to an end, sadly for Heath and his family that meant losing his life.

When the shocking news was revealed, it was mere months away before Dark Knight would hit theaters catapulting him to super-star status. He had been in the middle of production for The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, a Terry Gilliam venture. Production continued on, with several large names filling in for Heath, including Johnny Depp, Collin Farrell, and Jude Law.

Terry Gilliam may be one of the most creative and imaginative people on the planet. Sadly, studios don’t seem to have a lot of faith in him. We got a glimpse of the film at Comic Con. It’s absolutely breathtaking and I can’t wait to watch the entire thing. However, who is going to put up the money to release the film?

It already has plans to be distributed over seas, but the United States doesn’t have anything… yet. Currently the producers are in talks with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group to give the film a wide distribution in the U.S.

Keep your fingers crossed kittens. The movie itself looks fantastic. Being able to see Heath Ledger’s final performance has to be a treat within itself.

don’t you think with all the hype surrounding Heath that the Studio’s would want to pick this movie up?? Not to mention the all star cast that took his place after his death…

You would think that it would be THAT easy. It looks like they will be getting their US release, but they definitely had to work for it. Terry Gilliam is always working very hard to get funding for his films. Heath’s death has already lost most of its momentum. Not to mention, Gilliam’s films aren’t guaranteed money makers. Studios want to know they are getting their money back and then some. This latest adventure that is being brought to the big screen isn’t exactly a conventional movie.

It has the makings to be pretty amazing yes. So of the best films come from unconventional means, but studios in general like to stick with what they know works.
