Law as Watson & Downey, Jr. as Holmes
He’s back! The infamous detective himself is making his return to the big screen and this time he’s in the form of Robert Downey, Jr., joined by Jude Law as Watson and Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler. Surprisingly, Holmes and Watson work to stop a conspiracy to destroy England.
Frankly, I can’t get enough of Mr. Downey and he is reason enough for me to make the trek to the theater on opening night. What makes me curious is the sudden reappearance of Jude Law. The last time he was in a wide released movie was in 2006 for The Holiday. Welcome back Jude. Rachel McAdams is amazing in everything she does, and Robert Downey Jr. is hotter than ever coming off of Iron Man and Tropic Thunder of last summer.
As far as I can tell this movie should be a slam-dunk without trying very hard. It’s got a killer cast and Guy Richie directing. Can you mess this up?
Maybe you can. Maybe I’m a little too optimistic about the whole thing. My enthusiasm has not been shared across the board. The more I think about it, I understand that this film can really go both ways. Just because it has the makings of a good film, doesn’t mean it’ll live up to the hype. Is this just hype?
I see this as yet another reboot of an infamous character, looking for a franchise to reintroduce to a new generation. Honestly, I think this film looks like lots of fun and holds a lot of promise. Not everyone shares my sentiments. My favorite comment came from Tom Mason, “What if Sherlock Holmes was played by a gay Tony Stark?”
So what do you think? Watch the trailer. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this one!
The article is usefull for me. I’ll be coming back to your blog.
Hi there,
Where are you from? Is it a secret?
I have no reason to keep such secrets. I’m from the Southern California area.
